Jacksonville Jaguars to Make NFL History
The Jacksonville Jaguars are poised to make NFL history by becoming the inaugural team to host two home games abroad. Announced on Tuesday, the Jaguars, alongside the Washington Commanders, will be the featured teams for three games slated to take place in London during the 2026 season.
Game Details
These matches will take place in October, with Jacksonville set to compete at both the iconic Wembley Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Washington is also scheduled to host a game at Tottenham, which serves as the official NFL base in the UK.
Exact match dates and opponents will be revealed later. This strategic decision comes as the Jaguars’ local stadium undergoes significant renovations, which will temporarily decrease its seating capacity to 42,507 this fall. By 2027, the team will be fully relocated for the season to Orlando, allowing them the opportunity to play a maximum of three international home games that year.
Jaguars’ History in London
Over the last four years, the Jaguars have played back-to-back games in London on three occasions; however, during those times, they alternated between being the home and away team. In their recent trips to London in 2023, they achieved victories over Atlanta and Buffalo, while they went 1-1 against Chicago and New England the following year. The team also faced a loss against the Los Angeles Rams at Wembley Stadium in 2022.
“London is undeniably our second home,” remarked Jaguars head coach Liam Coen. He emphasized the strong and expanding fan base in London, which has been cultivated over the years. Coen acknowledged the dedication of the entire organization, particularly the ownership, in fostering this bond and enhancing the team’s presence in the UK.
Jaguars’ Record in London
Since 2013, the Jaguars have played an NFL-high 14 games in London, accumulating a record of 7 wins and 7 losses, with 11 of those games taking place at Wembley and 3 at Tottenham. Although they had planned two home games in Britain back in 2020, those intentions were canceled due to the pandemic.
Washington Commanders’ International Ventures
The Commanders, who have ventured internationally twice before—including a 27-27 draw with Cincinnati in 2016—lost in overtime against Miami in the NFL’s inaugural game held in Madrid last year.
NFL’s International Expansion
This London series is part of a broader NFL initiative, featuring a record-breaking total of nine international games in 2026 across four continents, involving seven different countries and eight various stadiums. Other locations include Australia, where the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams are set to clash, as well as Mexico, Germany, France, Brazil, and an upcoming game in Spain yet to announce its host team.
The international expansion of the NFL continues to grow, with these planned games in London reflecting the league’s commitment to reaching a global audience.
