Liam Foudy Signs with New York Islanders
The New York Islanders have retained forward Liam Foudy on a one-year, two-way contract, the organization announced this week. The signing comes after Foudy demonstrated significant progress during his second consecutive season within the franchise’s developmental structure.
Career Performance and Contract Details
Foudy’s performance metrics show considerable improvement. Playing primarily for the Islanders’ American Hockey League affiliate in Bridgeport during the 2024-25 campaign, the 23-year-old appeared in 60 games and accumulated 47 points through 26 goals and 21 assists—a career-best output. This marked a substantial jump from his first year in the organization, when he posted 45 points across 70 games with the same squad.
The contract reportedly carries an average annual value of approximately $850,000 at the National Hockey League level, reflecting the new league minimum salary established for the upcoming season. Foudy previously earned $775,000, the prior minimum wage.
Despite his productive season in the minors, Foudy saw limited action at the NHL level, appearing in just two regular season games for New York. His total professional hockey experience includes 105 NHL games across his career, generating 22 points on seven goals and 15 assists while averaging less than 12 minutes of ice time per contest.
Late-season circumstances provided Foudy with additional NHL exposure when he received a recall for the regular season finale following the Islanders’ elimination from playoff contention. He dressed alongside veterans Ondrej Palat and Casey Cizikas, appearing on the fourth line for 11:17 of ice time and recording one shot attempt.
Organization officials anticipate that Foudy will compete for a genuine roster spot during training camp, suggesting increased opportunity for the swift-skating forward to establish himself at hockey’s highest level.
