Inter Miami’s Luis Suárez Faces Suspension After Violent Conduct in Playoff Match

Luis Suárez’s Suspension

Luis Suárez, the forward for Inter Miami, is set to miss the crucial final match of their Round One playoff series against Nashville SC due to a suspension. This discipline arises from an incident during the game on November 1, when Suárez kicked Nashville player Andy Nájar in the second half at GEODIS Park.

Despite the lack of a card from the referee at the time, the MLS Disciplinary Committee deemed his actions violent conduct, resulting in a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine under their disciplinary guidelines.

Suárez’s suspension will be enforced during the decisive match against Nashville on November 8.

Regulations and Previous Incidents

This disciplinary action is in accordance with Major League Soccer’s regulations that permit league officials to impose penalties after matches when on-field officials overlook infractions. Notably, this marks Suárez’s second suspension in the 2025 season, as he was previously banned for three games for an incident involving a staff member of the Seattle Sounders after the Leagues Cup final on August 31.

Playoff Context

As it stands, the playoff series is tightly contested with both teams having secured one victory each, placing Inter Miami in a challenging position as they strive to progress to the next stage of the postseason without one of their key players.
