Inter Miami Targets América’s Brian Rodríguez Ahead of 2025 Club World Cup

Inter Miami CF’s Interest in Brian Rodríguez

Inter Miami CF is reportedly keen on acquiring Brian Rodríguez, a winger from América, ahead of the upcoming 2025 Club World Cup, according to sources familiar with the situation, as reported by ESPN.

To enhance their squads before the tournament kicks off on June 14, FIFA has sanctioned a unique transfer window from June 1 to June 10 for clubs participating in the World Cup. However, teams in Major League Soccer (MLS) still need to comply with league salary cap regulations and roster guidelines.

Coach Javier Mascherano’s Insights

Head coach Javier Mascherano has previously highlighted the need for additional wingers to boost the team’s competitiveness in international play, but acknowledged the complexities involved in any potential signings.

“I have already submitted my recommendations to the club regarding the team’s requirements,”

Mascherano stated on Tuesday,

“but ultimately the decision is not in my hands. I view the task of bringing in new players as challenging. As of today, May 27, there are various constraints for foreign players aiming to enter the United States, including the intricacies of paperwork and visa applications.”

Mascherano also revealed that the team is facing a shortage of depth, which influenced his decision to prevent players David Ruiz and Fafa Picault from participating in the Gold Cup to ensure their availability for the Club World Cup.

Brian Rodríguez’s Impact on the Team

Rodríguez, known for his attacking prowess, could significantly bolster Miami’s offensive strategies. In the recent Liga MX Clausura tournament, he managed to tally four goals and three assists over the course of 13 matches, although he was hampered by a left abductor injury. The Uruguayan was absent in the first leg of Club América’s Liga MX final against Toluca and only appeared briefly in the second leg as his team lost 2-0 on aggregate.

If Rodríguez transfers to Inter Miami, he would bring with him previous MLS experience, having played for LAFC between 2019 and 2021, during which he contributed to the club’s Supporters’ Shield victory.
