Howe insists Newcastle players remain focused despite Isak transfer rumors

Newcastle United’s Manager Addresses Transfer Rumors

Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, assured fans today that ongoing rumors regarding striker Alexander Isak‘s potential departure are not hindering his squad’s preparations for the upcoming Premier League season. Isak, who made a significant impact last year with 23 league goals—trailing only Liverpool’s Golden Boot winner, Mohamed Salah—is currently absent from the team as they embark on a preseason tour in Asia.

Isak’s Impressive Record

The 25-year-old Swedish international, who has represented his country 52 times, joined the Magpies from Real Sociedad in 2022 and boasts an impressive record of 62 goals across 109 matches in all competitions since his arrival.

Focus on Training

Following Newcastle’s recent 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in Singapore, Howe emphasized the need for focus as the players train and prepare for their next match.

“This tour is crucial for maintaining our high standards, and the players understand that there’s no time to dwell on outside factors like transfer rumors,”

Howe stated.

While he acknowledged that Isak’s absence is felt within the team, he expressed confidence in his players’ professionalism in handling the speculation surrounding their teammate’s future.

“We naturally miss a player of Alex’s caliber. There’s no denying that. However, the group is focused and doing exceptionally well in managing these challenges,”

he noted.

Upcoming Matches

Newcastle United, who secured a spot in the upcoming Champions League after finishing fifth in last season’s Premier League, are set to face a K-League XI from South Korea on Wednesday, which will be another important test for the squad as they aim to build momentum for the season ahead.
