Karl-Anthony Towns’ 30th Birthday Surprise
On his 30th birthday, Karl-Anthony Towns, the center for the New York Knicks, received a heartfelt surprise from his girlfriend, Jordyn Woods. To mark this milestone, Woods gifted Towns a vintage 1990s Isuzu Trooper that held significant sentimental value. This particular vehicle was the same one Towns’ mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, drove during his childhood, creating a deep connection to his past.
A Meaningful Gift
Woods revealed on a social media post that the idea for this meaningful gift stemmed from a conversation they had over the summer. Towns had expressed a desire for the car his mother once owned, saying,
“I wouldn’t pick anything crazy. I just really loved my mom’s car she had when I was a kid.”
After learning about this special request, Woods went on a quest to locate the specific model, successfully shipping it from across the country and rehabilitating it just in time for Towns’ special day. The Isuzu Trooper, which saw its last production run in 2002 before being replaced by other models, became a unique birthday present that Towns deeply appreciated, exclaiming,
“This s— is so fire. This is the best thing ever.”
as he took it for a spin.
Remembering His Mother
Tragically, Towns lost his mother in April 2020 at the age of 58 due to complications arising from the coronavirus. He and Woods began their relationship in May 2020 and subsequently went public with their romance on social media in September of the same year.
Current Performance
As he celebrates this momentous occasion, Towns continues to excel on the basketball court, currently averaging 21.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists for the Knicks this season.
