Harrison Brunicke Returned to Kamloops Blazers After World Juniors Stint

Pittsburgh Penguins Defenseman Harrison Brunicke Reassigned

The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a notable move regarding their defenseman Harrison Brunicke, who has just returned from participating in the World Junior Championships. On Wednesday, the Penguins decided to send him back to the Kamloops Blazers, his junior team, where he will continue to play for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. If the Blazers conclude their season by the time the AHL Playoffs start, there is a possibility he could join the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for those matches.

Brunicke’s NHL and International Experience

Brunicke kicked off his NHL career this season, featuring in nine games and scoring a goal, with his debut coming on October 7 against the New York Rangers. His international experience was also noteworthy, as he played seven games in the World Juniors, contributing two assists.

Contract Status and Development Opportunities

Importantly, because he participated in fewer than ten NHL games, Brunicke’s entry-level contract for this season is on hold and will not activate. This reassignment to the WHL will provide him regular playing opportunities as he further develops his skills.
