Jack Grealish Discusses Departure from Manchester City
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Jack Grealish opened up about his departure from Manchester City, clarifying that while his social life was not the primary factor behind his exit, it certainly played a role. Grealish, who moved to Everton on a season-long loan, has quickly returned to form, delivering four assists in his first five matches in the Premier League. This turnaround comes on the heels of a challenging period at City, where he found himself sidelined under manager Pep Guardiola.
Desire for Appreciation
Grealish revealed that his desire to feel appreciated drove his decision to leave the Etihad Stadium. He candidly acknowledged the scrutiny surrounding his lifestyle, saying,
“People say, ‘he likes to go out, he likes to party,’ and I do. I want to enjoy my life, but there’s definitely an appropriate time for that. In retrospect, I acknowledge that I probably didn’t choose the right moments while at City. Though, I also believe it was not solely responsible for my struggles there.”
He emphasized the importance of feeling valued, stating,
“I’m at my best when I feel loved. I’m quite vulnerable off the pitch, and I needed a place where I could feel that love again, to wake up happy and eager to play.”
Coaching Style and Future Goals
Grealish appreciates a coaching style that grants him creative freedom on the pitch, saying,
“I enjoy it when managers empower me, allowing me to express myself with the ball while maintaining my responsibilities without it.”
The 28-year-old will look to continue his positive momentum when Everton competes against West Ham in the Premier League at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday night.
