NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman echoed Daly’s sentiments, stating, “There are inherent consequences when one signs a long-term contract, and in Cassidy’s case, the current situation is entirely defensible.”
Daly further pointed out that while various contracts within the league might preclude certain scenarios, Cassidy’s contract does not fall into that category.
