Gavi’s Confidence Ahead of the New Season
Gavi, a midfield talent for FC Barcelona, has expressed that it is only natural for Real Madrid to feel apprehensive about his team as they head into the new football season. In the previous season, Barcelona enjoyed a dominant performance against their arch-rivals, winning all four encounters, a feat that has never been achieved before.
“It makes sense that they would be concerned. We managed to win all our Clásicos, and last season, we were phenomenal while they ended up with no silverware.”
Barcelona’s trophy haul included victories in LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, with the Catalan club triumphing over Madrid in both cup finals.
Real Madrid’s Roster Changes
On the other hand, Real Madrid closed the last season without securing any major titles for the first time since 2021. They have made significant moves in strengthening their roster under new manager Xabi Alonso, who took over from Carlo Ancelotti. The club has signed notable players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool and young talents like Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, Álvaro Carreras from Benfica, and Franco Mastantuono from River Plate.
“They have added some quality players, but we will see how they perform this season. They have a strong team, but we need to focus on our own game.”
Barcelona’s New Additions
Barcelona has also made improvements to their squad. Notable additions include England’s Marcus Rashford on a season-long loan from Manchester United, as well as goalkeeper Joan García and forward Roony Bardghji, who have joined from Espanyol and Copenhagen, respectively. Gavi conveyed confidence in these new arrivals, stating:
“I truly believe that Garcia and Rashford will make significant contributions. Roony is progressing well too. I am excited about Marcus joining us; he’s quite an exceptional player.”
Spotlight on Young Talent
Additionally, Gavi highlighted the impressive performances of Barcelona’s young forward, Lamine Yamal, who recently showcased his skills by scoring twice in a 7-3 victory against FC Seoul during their Asia Tour. Gavi praised Yamal’s development, noting:
“He is an incredible talent and continues to improve daily. He shows great potential in training. If he maintains his mentality, I have no doubt that he will be a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or in the years to come.”
