Gareth Bale expresses desire to co-own Cardiff City football club

Gareth Bale’s Ambition to Acquire Cardiff City

Welsh football icon Gareth Bale has publicly declared his intention to take part in a bid to acquire Cardiff City, the club where he has deep roots. Bale, the all-time leading goal scorer for Wales, expressed his excitement about potentially becoming an owner of his local team during the premiere of “F1: The Movie”, where he spoke with Sky Sports.

Previous Acquisition Attempts

Previously, Bale was involved in an effort with a U.S.-based group to purchase Plymouth Argyle, a venture that ultimately did not succeed. However, Bale is undeterred and has turned his focus back to Cardiff, revealing his ambition during the event, stating:

“We are interested in getting Cardiff. It’s my home club, it’s where I grew up and my uncle used to play for them. To be involved with an ownership group would be a dream come true.”

Bale’s Football Journey and Affection for Cardiff City

Originally hailing from Cardiff, Bale’s football journey began at Southampton‘s youth academy, leading him to play professionally with the Saints, as well as with Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, and LAFC. He expressed his affection for Cardiff City, noting that it holds a special place in his heart. He stated:

“It’s where I grew up and I would love to be able to be a part of growing Cardiff and taking it to the Premier League where it belongs,”

acknowledging the incredible support from Welsh fans.

Future Developments

He further indicated that there are ongoing discussions to engage with Cardiff City, hinting at future developments in the project. As a reminder of the club’s recent history, Cardiff City was in the Premier League as recently as the 2018-19 season before facing relegation. After spending six years in the Championship, the club has faced further challenges, including relegation this season.

Bale’s pursuit of ownership aligns with his desire to contribute to the community and revitalize the club he holds dear.
