Allegations Against Rashee Rice
A former partner of Rashee Rice, a wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, has recently filed a lawsuit claiming a history of physical abuse over an 18-month period. The legal action, initiated by Dacoda Jones in Dallas County, comes on the heels of prior accusations she made on social media regarding domestic violence last month. Jones is seeking damages exceeding $1 million, alleging that the incidents took place at residences in both Dallas and the Kansas City suburbs.
Details of the Abuse
The allegations include an incident from December 2023 when Rice purportedly strangled Jones during a period marked by escalating violence. Throughout the duration of their relationship, which ended in July 2025, Jones claims to have endured multiple episodes of physical abuse that resulted in injuries ranging from bruising to bleeding. She lists various forms of aggression in her suit, stating Rice has “grabbed, choked, strangled, pushed, thrown, scratched, hit, and headbutted” her, adding that he also used objects as weapons.
Additional claims detail Rice’s destructive behavior, such as breaking furniture and punching walls, often occurring during Jones’s pregnancies with their two children. Her legal team emphasizes the seriousness of her injuries, which they describe as including “bleeding, swelling, bruising and other pain and physical injury.”
Response from Rice and the NFL
As of Wednesday, representatives for Rice had not provided comments on the lawsuit when contacted by the Associated Press. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs organization is aware of the situation and is maintaining dialogue with the NFL, which is currently reviewing the allegations.
Previous Legal Issues
This lawsuit is not the first legal trouble for Rice, who missed the first six games of the last NFL season due to a suspension linked to a serious car crash in Dallas that occurred in the 2024 offseason. Rice faced legal consequences for that incident, including a 30-day jail sentence and five years of probation after pleading guilty to felony charges of bodily harm-related collision and street racing.
Rice’s Performance
In the previous season, Rice recorded 53 receptions, totaling 571 yards and scoring five touchdowns, but the Chiefs faced a disappointing season, finishing 6-11 and failing to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
