Former Kentucky Wildcats Nick Richards and Rob Dillingham Join Chicago Bulls Following Trade Deadline

NBA Trade Deadline: Key Changes for Former Wildcats

On March 15, 2024, the NBA trade deadline ushered in significant roster changes, particularly for former University of Kentucky standouts Nick Richards and Rob Dillingham, who are both now joining the Chicago Bulls. This development marks a new chapter for both players, previously part of different teams in the league.

Nick Richards’ Journey

Nick Richards, a notable figure from the Wildcats, initially found himself traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. However, his stint there was fleeting, primarily due to a complex three-team trade involving the Bucks, Phoenix Suns, and the Bulls, which ultimately led him to Chicago.

During his final college season in 2019-20, Richards made a substantial impact, averaging 14.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game before the NCAA season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. Opting to enter the draft rather than complete his senior year, he was selected 42nd overall by the Charlotte Hornets. Richards spent over four seasons with Charlotte and has had brief experiences with the Suns in recent seasons.

Rob Dillingham’s Transition

Meanwhile, Rob Dillingham has also transitioned to the Bulls after a stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Dillingham’s rookie season saw him average 4.5 points and contribute to a Timberwolves team that reached the Western Conference Finals in 2025. Selected by the San Antonio Spurs during draft night before being traded, Dillingham garnered recognition as the SEC Sixth Man of the Year in 2024, showcasing a more prominent role with averages of 15.2 points and an impressive 44.4% shooting from beyond the arc.

Looking Ahead

With both players now in Chicago, fans eagerly anticipate how they will perform together in the Windy City and propel the Bulls forward in the league.
