Philadelphia Flyers Retain Jacob Gaucher
The Philadelphia Flyers have confirmed they will be retaining young forward Jacob Gaucher, signing him to a one-year, two-way contract that will take effect for the 2026-27 NHL season. The deal includes a salary cap hit of $850,000 at the NHL level.
Performance Overview
Standing at 6-foot-3, Gaucher spent the majority of the previous season, 2025-26, playing with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the American Hockey League (AHL). Throughout the season, he participated in 69 games, where he notched 20 goals and 16 assists, accumulating 36 points in total, alongside serving 44 penalty minutes.
This performance follows his earlier season in 2024-25, during which he also demonstrated his scoring prowess, registering 20 goals and 38 points over 70 games with Lehigh Valley.
NHL Experience
Additionally, Gaucher had the opportunity to compete in four NHL games with the Flyers this past season but did not register any points, although he contributed defensively with three hits and four blocked shots.
Future Aspirations
The decision to retain Gaucher comes as no surprise; the 25-year-old forward has proven to be a valuable player for the Phantoms over the last two seasons, displaying considerable promise in his development. As Gaucher prepares for the upcoming season, he aims to make a stronger push for a more prominent role within the Flyers’ lineup, having recorded no points in his eight-game NHL career thus far, where he also registered seven shots and seven hits.
