Philadelphia Flyers Assign Aleksei Kolosov to Lehigh Valley Phantoms
In a recent announcement, the Philadelphia Flyers confirmed that they have assigned Aleksei Kolosov, their goaltender, to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. Kolosov had been brought up to the Flyers earlier this week in anticipation of their game against the Los Angeles Kings due to an injury that sidelined Samuel Ersson after a match against the Boston Bruins on January 29.
Koloso’s Performance and Development
Despite his brief stint with the NHL club, Kolosov is returning to the Phantoms for further development. This season, he has participated in 21 games with Lehigh Valley and maintains a record of 9 wins, 10 losses, and 1 overtime loss, along with a save percentage of .908 and a goals-against average (GAA) of 2.52. Last season, he also demonstrated potential, playing 12 games for the Phantoms with a record of 5-6-1 and turning in a save percentage of .884 and a GAA of 3.11.
NHL Struggles
At the NHL level this season, Kolosov has struggled, accumulating a 0-2-0 mark in four games for the Flyers, with a notable .830 save percentage and a GAA of 4.00. Looking back at last season, he played 17 games for Philadelphia, producing a record of 5-9-1 and achieving a save percentage of .867.
This latest move reflects the Flyers’ ongoing strategy to manage their goalie depth effectively while allowing Kolosov to regain form in the AHL.
