During Tuesday’s practice, the players aiming to impress the coaching team took to the ice. Each participant is vying for a notable spot on the roster, and as Head Coach Paul Maurice emphasizes, the focus is primarily on effort and potential.
“What I’m really looking for is how these young guys cope in camp. Even if they perform well, that doesn’t guarantee they’ll be ready for the NHL just yet. If they struggle, it won’t be the end of their journey,”
shared Maurice. He highlighted that currently, the Panthers lack high draft picks with immediate NHL potential – contrasting their recent selections who are already contributing in the league.

Looking ahead, the Panthers will face the Tampa Bay Lightning in Orlando next Tuesday, bringing yet another youthful lineup. “For the new recruits, I’m trying to gauge their skill sets and how they might fit into our overall strategy. For the returning players, assessing their progress and overall improvements is crucial. We want to ensure they are better conditioned and grasping the game plan we’ve established. It’s about molding these individuals into a cohesive unit.”
