Florida Panthers’ Jack Studnicka Joins AHL’s Charlotte Checkers After Clearing Waivers

Florida Panthers Update

The Florida Panthers’ center, Jack Studnicka, has successfully cleared waivers and will be joining the Charlotte Checkers in the American Hockey League (AHL). This 26-year-old athlete signed a two-way contract with the Panthers during the offseason, positioning him to begin his journey with the franchise at the AHL level. Despite starting in the minors, Studnicka has shown that he may be the first choice for a call-up should injuries occur within the team.

Preseason Performance

During the preseason, Studnicka distinguished himself with notable performance, contributing in all four games played. He recorded four goals, accumulating a total of five points, while also actively engaging in physical play—delivering eight hits and taking 15 shots on goal.

Team News

In other team news, the Panthers navigated the preseason without placing any other players on waivers, except for goaltender Brandon Bussi. The 27-year-old Bussi impressed during his limited time, making 17 saves out of 19 shots in his appearance against the Nashville Predators, leading to his claim by the Carolina Hurricanes. Defenseman Tobias Bjornfot was also on waivers alongside Bussi, but he went unclaimed and will join Studnicka in Charlotte.

Recent Acquisitions

Additionally, the Panthers have made another move by acquiring Cole Schwindt from the Vegas Golden Knights, marking a notable shift following Schwindt’s brief stint with the Calgary Flames that preceded his time in Vegas.
