Filip Forsberg Shines as NHL’s Second Star of the Week

NHL Stars of the Week

In an exciting announcement, the National Hockey League (NHL) revealed its three stars for the week concluding on March 22, a recognition sponsored by GEICO. Among the top performers this week were Nikita Kucherov from the Tampa Bay Lightning, Filip Forsberg of the Nashville Predators, and Cole Caufield representing the Montreal Canadiens.

Filip Forsberg’s Stellar Performance

Leading the charge was Forsberg, who, at 31 years old, had an impressive week by scoring four goals, providing five assists, and totaling nine points over the course of four games. His remarkable performance not only helped the Predators secure a flawless record during this period, but it also enabled them to claim the final Wild Card spot in the competitive Western Conference standings, boasting a record of 33 wins, 28 losses, and 9 overtime losses for a total of 75 points.

Milestones and Future Matches

This week was particularly momentous for Forsberg as he became the sixth player of Swedish descent to reach the milestone of 350 career goals in the NHL. Currently, he stands as the Predators’ second-leading scorer with 32 goals and 62 points across 70 games this season. Notably, Forsberg has now achieved three consecutive seasons with 30 or more goals, making it a total of six such campaigns in his professional journey.

With all eyes on the team, Nashville will return home to face the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, who are currently five points behind them in the standings.
