FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Club World Cup
Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, confidently stated on Tuesday that the opening match of the Club World Cup featuring Inter Miami CF and Al Ahly, set for June 14 at Hard Rock Stadium, will be a full house, despite the availability of numerous tickets. Initially priced between $250 and $350, the tickets have seen significant discounts, with some now available for as little as $55.
Optimism Around Ticket Sales
Infantino expressed his optimism about the turnout, indicating, “The stadium will certainly be bustling with fans. It will be a memorable event featuring two iconic teams, each with a unique legacy.”
He acknowledged the unpredictability that comes with new initiatives but emphasized the strong interest from sponsors and broadcasters that will secure substantial revenue for the event.
“While tickets are still on sale, I expect many more to be purchased in the coming days,” he added.
Status of Ticket Sales
Currently, Ticketmaster has reported that none of the group stage matches for the Club World Cup are sold out yet. Infantino also addressed potential impacts of the Trump administration’s travel restrictions and ongoing ICE actions in locations such as Los Angeles, especially considering the upcoming match between Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid at the Rose Bowl.
“Our focus is on creating a secure environment for all fans attending the matches,” Infantino affirmed.
He reassured that the latest government actions would not hinder the arrival of athletes or spectators for the World Cup. Adding to the context, the Trump administration recently imposed a strict travel ban on numerous countries, including Haiti and Iran, while further tightening regulations on Cuba, Venezuela, and Laos. Notably, Iran has qualified for the 2026 World Cup, while Venezuela is just a step away from making its debut.
