Injury Setbacks for FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona has been dealt a significant setback with the news that both Gavi and Fermín López will be sidelined due to injuries.
Gavi’s Injury Details
Gavi, a key midfielder, is set to undergo a minor surgical procedure to address a meniscus issue in his knee. Although the club has not specified the duration of his absence, sources indicate that he may be out until at least November. This marks another blow for Gavi, who had only recently returned from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in the same knee. His last appearance for the team was in August.
Barcelona had initially hoped to manage the condition without surgery, but it has now been deemed necessary.
“After completing an intensive rehabilitation program to treat the radial injury to the internal meniscus in his right knee, Gavi has undergone rigorous sporting stress evaluations,”
the club’s statement revealed.
“To ensure optimal recovery and facilitate a timely return to competitive play, Gavi will have an arthroscopic procedure performed by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau in consultation with our medical team.”
Fermín López’s Condition
In addition, Fermín López will be off the field for approximately three weeks after sustaining a muscle injury during the team’s recent 3-0 victory against Getafe. His absence will affect the squad in upcoming matches, including crucial fixtures against Real Oviedo and Real Sociedad, as well as the Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.
“Fermín is dealing with an iliopsoas muscle injury in his left leg,”
the club noted in a statement.
Positive News on Other Players
On a more positive note, Alejandro Balde is close to returning from a hamstring issue, and Lamine Yamal is also working towards a comeback after missing the last three matches.
