In a revealing interview with World Boxing News conducted in early 2024, Holyfield, nicknamed ‘Yung Holy’, shared insights on his preparatory journey. Having battled an undiagnosed heart condition, Holyfield was living with life-threatening risks before his surgery. Fortunately, medical professionals acted swiftly, ensuring the surgery was performed successfully, allowing him to focus on returning to boxing with an updated record of 11 wins and only a single defeat.
With a titanium plate now supporting his heart, Holyfield has recovered sufficiently to receive medical clearance to box again.
“Since my surgery, I feel fantastic and incredibly grateful,” Holyfield expressed during the interview.
