Blackhawks Forward Frank Nazar Returns to Practice
In an encouraging development for the Chicago Blackhawks, forward Frank Nazar participated in practice with the team on Sunday, signaling a possible return to action as soon as Thursday when they face the Carolina Hurricanes. Nazar, who recently celebrated his 22nd birthday, sustained a facial injury due to a puck during a December 20 game against Ottawa, where the Blackhawks suffered a 6-4 defeat.
“It feels great to be back with the guys and skating. I had a lot of fun out there today,”
Nazar commented on his practice session.
As the Blackhawks prepare for Monday’s home matchup against the Winnipeg Jets, they are currently in a slump, having lost their last three games. Following the Jets game, they will head to Carolina on Thursday and then host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night.
However, Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill noted that Nazar is not expected to play against Winnipeg due to his recent injury status, unless there is an unexpected change in his recovery process. This would offer him additional time to practice with the team before potentially returning to play. Coach Blashill also mentioned that Tuomo Teravainen will be sidelined for the Jets game due to an upper-body injury he sustained early in a previous loss against Edmonton.
Nazar’s Impact and Future with the Team
Nazar, who was selected as a first-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, has made a notable impact this season with six goals and 15 assists over 33 games. He signed a substantial seven-year contract extension worth $46.2 million with the Blackhawks in August, which showcases the team’s faith in his abilities.
“I’m just really itching to get back and give what I can to help the team win,”
he expressed, reflecting his eagerness to contribute once again.
