This hard-fought win allowed Boston to maintain its position at the top of the PWHL standings with a record of 9 wins, 5 losses, 2 overtime losses, and 3 shootout losses, placing them three points ahead of Montreal, which stands at 9 wins, 4 losses, 1 overtime loss, and 5 shootout losses.

The game took a tense turn at the start of the third period when the Fleet found themselves down by three goals. However, the third period saw a change in fortunes for Boston as Gabel opened their account, scoring 6:01 into the frame. Keller then brought the Fleet within one goal with just 2:34 left on the clock. In a final surge, with Frankel pulled for an extra skater, Tapani managed to tie the game with only 14.8 seconds remaining, sending the match into overtime where Huber’s decisive goal sealed the deal.
