Duke University Faces Challenges Ahead of ACC Tournament
Duke University, currently the top team in college basketball, faces significant challenges as they prepare for the upcoming Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Tournament. The Blue Devils have suffered a major setback with the injury of their starting point guard, Caleb Foster, who fractured his right foot during the first half of a heated matchup against the University of North Carolina on Saturday.
Following the injury, Foster underwent surgery on Sunday morning, leaving Coach Jon Scheyer optimistic about his recovery but uncertain about a return for the remainder of the season.
“We will do all we can to support him during this period and keep the door open for a potential comeback,”
Scheyer stated.
In addition to Foster’s injury, the team will also be without starting center Patrick Ngongba II during the ACC Tournament due to a foot problem. Ngongba was unable to play against North Carolina due to soreness and was seen wearing a protective boot on the sidelines during the game. Coach Scheyer has decided to prioritize Ngongba’s long-term health, resting him for the ACC Tournament to ensure he is fit for the NCAA Tournament in the near future.
As the team navigates these injuries, they will need to adapt quickly to maintain their momentum heading into the postseason.
