NHL Clash: Dallas Stars vs. Golden Knights
In an electrifying NHL clash Thursday night in Las Vegas, the Dallas Stars snatched a 5-4 victory from the Golden Knights, securing the win in a dramatic shootout after nearly squandering a three-goal advantage in the final period. The Stars’ Jason Robertson and Mikko Rantanen were pivotal in the shootout, both converting their chances to clinch the game for Dallas.
Game Highlights
The match tension heightened in the last minute of regulation when Vegas’ Mitch Marner showcased his skill by maintaining control in the offensive zone and unleashing a powerful shot from the left point, which found the back of the net with just 48.7 seconds left, pushing the game into overtime.
Mavrik Bourque stood out for the Stars, notching a pair of goals, marking his first multi-goal game after being selected 30th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft. Alongside Bourque, Dallas also received contributions from Matt Duchene, who netted his fourth goal in three games, and Wyatt Johnston. Notably, Jamie Benn and Sam Steel each facilitated two assists, while netminder Jake Oettinger made 17 saves to help his team secure the win despite the pressure.
Golden Knights’ Performance
The Golden Knights had their own stars, with both Mitch Marner and Keegan Kolesar providing a goal and an assist each. Ivan Barbashev added another goal, and Reilly Smith found the net while shorthanded—his 13th career shorthanded goal that puts him just two shy of matching the franchise record held by William Karlsson. In the crease for the Knights, Adin Hill recorded 23 saves, although his team has struggled recently, losing five of their last six games and dropping to a disappointing 1-6 record in shootouts this season.
Milestones Achieved
A couple of significant milestones were also reached during the match: Adam Erne played in his 400th NHL game, while Johnston celebrated his 300th game, extending his streak of consecutive games played since making his debut in October 2022. He is the fourth player from the 2021 draft class to reach this milestone.
Upcoming Matches
Dallas is slated to face the Utah Mammoth on Saturday, while the Golden Knights prepare to host the Seattle Kraken on the same day, both looking to improve their standings.
