Doncic sidelined during Lakers’ contest against 76ers due to leg injury

Injury Update: Luka Doncic

In a disappointing turn of events for the Los Angeles Lakers, NBA scoring leader Luka Doncic departed Thursday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers due to a left leg injury. The incident occurred with just over three minutes left in the first half when Doncic appeared to sustain the injury located at the far side of the court. After limping to the locker room, he remained sidelined for the second half, and the team’s medical staff subsequently confirmed that he would not return to play due to soreness in his left leg.

Doncic’s Performance This Season

Doncic, who is currently averaging an impressive 33.4 points per game in his first full season with the Lakers, also ranks second in the league for assists, tallying 8.7 per game. In the first half against Philadelphia, he struggled, managing merely 10 points along with four rebounds and five turnovers, while missing all four attempts from beyond the arc.

Season Highlights

This season had started strong for Doncic, particularly in January when he was honored as the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Month. During that stretch, he averaged 34.0 points while shooting at a notable 50.6% efficiency, along with 7.2 rebounds, 9.1 assists, and 1.5 steals each game. His outstanding performance also earned him a place in his sixth All-Star Game, where he is set to be featured as a starter at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, next weekend.
