Crystal Palace Considering Transfer for Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji

Crystal Palace’s Interest in Manuel Akanji

Crystal Palace is reportedly considering making a move for Manuel Akanji, the 30-year-old defender from Manchester City, as they seek to strengthen their defensive lineup. According to insiders, the Premier League club has initiated discussions with City regarding Akanji’s potential transfer, though they have yet to make an official offer.

Speculation Surrounding Marc Guéhi

The interest in Akanji coincides with the club’s speculation surrounding another defender, Marc Guéhi, who is keen on a transfer to Liverpool. Guéhi’s current contract has just a year remaining, and he appears unwilling to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.

Palace management is hesitant to let go of another key player so soon after parting ways with Eberechi Eze, who recently signed with Arsenal.

Transfer Details and Market Interest

Sources indicate that Manchester City has placed a price tag of approximately £15 million (around $20.2 million) on Akanji, who has two years remaining on his current contract with the club.

On the pitch, Akanji has yet to make a significant impact this season, not featuring in Manchester City’s recent games, including their 4-0 victory over Wolves and the subsequent 2-0 loss against Tottenham.

Aside from Crystal Palace, Turkish club Galatasaray and German outfit Bayer Leverkusen have also expressed interest in the defender as the transfer window approaches its deadline.
