Cristhian Mosquera heads to Singapore to join Arsenal’s pre-season preparations

Arsenal Welcomes Cristhian Mosquera

Cristhian Mosquera is on his way to Singapore to join Arsenal as they embark on their pre-season tour. The young centre-back is making this trip after finalizing his transfer from Valencia, a move that has been in the works for the last several days. As reported on July 14, Arsenal was engaged in negotiations for Mosquera, and it was stated that personal terms with the 21-year-old player were already settled.

Transfer Details

Although his transfer wasn’t completed in time for him to accompany the team on their initial flight, Mosquera has now received the necessary approval to meet up with the squad. He took off from Heathrow early Tuesday morning bound for Singapore. As of now, neither Arsenal nor Valencia has publicly announced the transfer.

Pre-Season Tour Matches

During their time in Singapore, Arsenal will compete against AC Milan at the National Stadium tomorrow, before facing fellow Premier League team Newcastle United several days later. The tour will also feature a north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong on July 31, marking an exciting challenge for the Gunners.

Strengthening the Squad

Arsenal has been focused on strengthening their defensive line for the upcoming season, and Mosquera is seen as a valuable addition to provide backup for their starting defenders, William Saliba and Gabriel, who had impressive workloads last season with 51 and 42 appearances respectively.

Active Summer Transfer Window

This summer has been particularly active for Arsenal as they have already recruited several players, including Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and Christian Norgaard from Brentford, along with Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke. There are also indications that the club is nearing an agreement with Sporting CP valued at €73.5 million for striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Player Background

Mosquera, a product of Valencia’s youth system, made his professional debut at just 17 years of age in January 2022. Over the past season, he went from being a substitute to a mainstay in the starting lineup, featuring prominently in 38 matches across all competitions. In total, he has made 90 appearances for Valencia and found the net once. Additionally, he has represented Spain at the under-21 level and was part of the squad that clinched the gold medal during the 2024 Olympics held in Paris.
