Jerry Jones on Maxx Crosby Trade Discussions
In a recent statement, Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, indicated that while he does not foresee resuming trade discussions regarding edge rusher Maxx Crosby, he won’t completely dismiss the possibility either.
Recent Acquisitions and Free Agency Plans
The Cowboys are currently deep into their free agency plans, having just acquired Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers on the opening day of this year’s free agency period. This acquisition involved trading a fourth-round pick in 2027 for the player.
This move follows the Cowboys’ past interest in Crosby, who was almost traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks; however, that deal fell through at the last minute.
Jones’ Comments on Future Possibilities
“We’re pretty far down the road relative to what our plans are,”
Jones stated during a promotional event for an IndyCar street race near the Cowboys’ Arlington stadium. He emphasized that while acquiring Crosby doesn’t seem likely, he isn’t prepared to rule it out completely.
“I don’t want to rule anything out,”
he added, reflecting the unpredictable nature of the NFL.
Focus on Defensive Improvements
This offseason has been crucial for the Cowboys as they aim to address a struggling defense that ranked among the league’s worst last year. To bolster their defensive lineup, the team appointed Christian Parker as the new defensive coordinator and signed safety Jalen Thompson, who was previously with the Arizona Cardinals for the first six seasons of his career.
As the Cowboys work to improve their game, all eyes will be on how their defensive strategy evolves leading up to the next season.
