Emma Raducanu Faces Security Concerns
In a troubling update concerning British tennis star Emma Raducanu, it has come to light that a man previously issued a restraining order for stalking her is attempting to acquire tickets for this year’s Wimbledon Championships. The All England Club’s security protocols caught the red-flagged identity during the ticket application process, promptly preventing his entry into the public ballot.
Disturbing Incidents at the Dubai Championships
The incident harkens back to February when Raducanu was visibly shaken at the Dubai Tennis Championships after spotting the man in the audience. His presence triggered distressing memories as he had followed her across several tournaments in locations including Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and Doha.
Just a day prior to her match against Karolina Muchova, the individual approached Raducanu at a local café, handing her a letter and requesting a photograph, actions that left her feeling anxious and overwhelmed.
During the match, the situation escalated as Raducanu, mid-game, lost concentration upon seeing him in the stands. Fleeing to hide behind the umpire’s chair amidst tears, she revealed later, “I literally couldn’t see the ball through tears. I could barely breathe.”
This alarming pattern of behavior led to his removal from the venue and a subsequent restraining order imposed by local authorities in Dubai. Following the traumatic experience, Raducanu was informed that her ordeal could have been handled more effectively, as communication with related tennis bodies like the Women’s Tennis Association was lacking at the time.

Since achieving global recognition as the 2021 US Open champion at just 18, Raducanu has had to navigate increased scrutiny, asserting that she has since heightened her security measures and no longer travels alone. She reflects,

Amidst these concerns, All England Lawn Tennis Club’s CEO Sally Bolton has assured players that security is a top priority, meticulously coordinating with local police and security agencies throughout the year to tackle potential risks. More stringent protocols have been implemented this season, with around 1,000 security personnel assigned to ensure the safety of attendees and players alike.
Enhancements include thorough background checks for those entering the grounds and specialist teams trained to identify suspicious behavior, further solidifying the club’s commitment to player safety during the iconic tournament.
