Investigation into Canadian Soccer Association
Concacaf has initiated an inquiry into the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) and head coach Jesse Marsch regarding alleged breaches of regulations and inappropriate language during Canada’s dominant 6-0 victory over Honduras in the Gold Cup.
Details of the Case
Notably, Marsch was absent from the match due to a two-game suspension stemming from a red card issued during his team’s Nations League third-place game against the United States last March.
The disciplinary committee of Concacaf released a statement on Wednesday indicating they will examine all relevant materials, including official documents suggesting that both the CSA and Marsch may have:
- Violated rules concerning suspended officials
- Potentially insulted Concacaf officials during the match
Marsch’s Concerns
Marsch has previously voiced concerns about how Canadian teams are treated by Concacaf referees, stating that the organization has historically disrespected Canada.
