New Jersey Devils Secure Cody Glass
The New Jersey Devils have secured Cody Glass for an additional two seasons, following the center’s signing of a contract valued at $5 million, announced on Wednesday by President and General Manager Tom Fitzgerald. This agreement stipulates a yearly salary of $2.5 million, with identical payouts for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons.
“I wanted to stay (in New Jersey) the whole time,” Glass expressed during a press conference, conveying his satisfaction with the deal.
Glass’s Performance and Background
The 26-year-old forward was acquired by the Devils from the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 7, 2025, along with teammate Jonathan Gruden. The trade cost New Jersey Chase Stillman, Max Graham, and a third-round selection in the 2027 NHL Draft. In his short tenure with the Devils, Glass tallied seven points through 14 regular-season games, which included two goals and five assists, and recorded a face-off percentage of 47.4%.
Although Glass has minimal playoff experience, having participated in just three games with the Vegas Golden Knights and the Nashville Predators, he reflected on the Devils’ first-round playoff matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes, saying:
“It was a great experience. Obviously, I wish it could have gone a lot better. This is something I think about a lot, and it’s going to drive me this summer. We want to get back to that point but do much better and advance.”
Roster Updates
In addition to retaining Glass, Fitzgerald has also signed unrestricted free agents Connor Brown and Evgenii Dadonov, alongside re-signing goaltender Jake Allen to strengthen the roster ahead of the coming seasons.
