Cleveland Cavaliers Sign Tristan Enaruna
The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially added Tristan Enaruna to their roster through a two-way contract. Enaruna previously showcased his skills during his junior and senior years at Cleveland State University before spending time with the Boston Celtics’ G League affiliate. He has since returned to Cleveland to play with the Charge, where he has been impressive this season, averaging 20.9 points and 4.6 assists over 30.8 minutes per game.
Notable Improvements in Performance
Notably, Enaruna has drastically improved his three-point shooting performance, rising from below 30% last season to an impressive 45% this year, taking nearly five attempts per game. Although he has participated in only nine games this season, this significant enhancement in shooting efficiency is certainly noteworthy.
Current Roster and Future Prospects
Currently, the Cavaliers have two other players occupying their two-way contracts: Luke Travers and Nae’Qwan Tomlin. Tomlin has stood out this season, having appeared in 36 games for the Cavaliers, and may soon transition to a standard NBA contract as he approaches the limit of his eligibility for two-way players.
This recent move by Cleveland comes after the team waived forward Chris Livingston earlier in the week, thereby creating the opportunity for Enaruna to step in. The Cavaliers have seen a remarkable impact from their Charge players, often exceeding the expectations of most franchises; Sam Merrill, known for his exceptional three-point shooting, is among their success stories.
Challenges Ahead
While Enaruna joins a competitive environment, the chances for additional players from the Charge to break into the Cavaliers’ current lineup appear slim, particularly if the team achieves full health. Nonetheless, the primary purpose of a two-way contract is to recognize and reward an athlete’s dedication, serving as a pivotal first step toward potential future opportunities in the NBA.
