Christian Koloko Signs Two-Way Contract with Atlanta Hawks
Christian Koloko, a prominent figure from the Arizona Wildcats basketball team, has secured a new opportunity in the NBA by signing a two-way contract with the Atlanta Hawks. This move comes after the Memphis Grizzlies decided not to renew Koloko’s contract following the conclusion of his second 10-day deal with the team.
Koloko’s Journey in the NBA
After beginning the season with the Los Angeles Lakers, his journey continued briefly with Memphis, and now, Koloko aims to establish a more permanent role with Atlanta. So far in the current season, Koloko has participated in 13 games, averaging 2.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks over approximately 15 and a half minutes per game.
Challenges Ahead in Atlanta
The Hawks, currently sitting with a 20-23 record, are in the mix for a playoff berth midway through the season despite a tumultuous recent trade that sent star point guard Trae Young to Washington. In Atlanta, Koloko will face competition for playing time at the center position from Onyeka Okongwu, Mouhamed Gueye, and Asa Newell.
Koloko’s NBA Career Highlights
This marks Koloko’s fourth team in the NBA, as he began his professional career with the Toronto Raptors, who selected him 33rd overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. In his senior year at Arizona, he was recognized as both the Pac-12 Defensive Player and Most Improved Player of the Year, highlights that contributed to his initial draft selection.
