Chloe Kelly Joins Arsenal Permanently
Chloe Kelly has officially signed on with Arsenal in a permanent transfer following her impactful loan period last season. The 27-year-old forward makes her return to London after completing a five-year tenure with Manchester City, where she netted 30 goals over 109 appearances and added to her trophy collection with both the FA Cup and League Cup.
Impressive Loan Performance
During her loan at Arsenal last season, Kelly showcased her skills by scoring two goals and recording five assists across 13 games, solidifying her role as an integral part of Renée Slegers’ squad that triumphed in the Champions League. With this new contract, she will keep her No. 18 shirt as she rejoins a club where she initially spent eight years, having entered their academy at age 12 in 2010.
Career Highlights
From 2015 to 2018, Chloe made 19 appearances for Arsenal’s first team, scoring nine times before moving to Everton in January 2018. It was the same year she made her mark on the international stage, debuting for England in a match against Austria. Kelly has since earned 53 caps with the national team, contributing eight goals, with her most memorable moment being the decisive goal during Euro 2022 and earning a place in the World Cup final the following year.
Statements from Kelly and Coach Slegers
Expressing her excitement about this new chapter, Kelly said, “Signing a permanent contract at Arsenal is a significant moment for me. I am eager to continue learning from a fantastic manager and to strengthen my bonds within a remarkable team. My goal is to keep winning trophies at this extraordinary club and to celebrate those victories with our loyal supporters. Their support means the world to me, and it’s special to feel their energy as they chant my name.”
Coach Renée Slegers also expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I am thrilled that we have secured Chloe’s permanent signing. Her contributions last season were substantial, and I’m confident in her commitment to our shared ambition for more success moving forward.”
