Chicago Bulls overpower Memphis Grizzlies 132-107, fueled by Josh Giddey’s fourth triple-double in five outings

Chicago Bulls Dominate Memphis Grizzlies

In a dominant performance, the Chicago Bulls triumphed over the Memphis Grizzlies with a score of 132-107 on Monday night, marking the Grizzlies’ eighth consecutive defeat.

Josh Giddey’s Stellar Performance

This victory saw Josh Giddey, the Bulls’ standout guard, achieve his fourth triple-double in just five games, finishing the match with 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 13 assists. Giddey has been impressive this season, now ranking third in the NBA with a total of 12 triple-doubles, trailing only Nikola Jokic from the Denver Nuggets and Jalen Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks.

Despite facing challenges this season due to hamstring and ankle issues, which have limited him to 46 games, Giddey is enjoying career highs with averages of 17.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 8.8 assists.

Supporting Cast Shines

Alongside Giddey’s stellar performance, Matas Buzelis emerged as the leading scorer for the Bulls, contributing 29 points, which included five 3-pointers. Buzelis, a second-year forward and the 11th overall pick in the 2024 draft, has recently shown significant scoring prowess, achieving three of his highest scoring games within the last three weeks.

The bench also played a crucial role in the Bulls’ success, with Tre Jones scoring 17 points and Rob Dillingham adding 15. This win marked only the fifth victory in their last 23 outings for the Bulls, who now sit in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, six games shy of the final play-in position. The second half was particularly one-sided, with Chicago outpacing Memphis by a score of 71-50.

Grizzlies Struggle Amid Injuries

On the other side, the Grizzlies struggled as Cedric Coward led the team with 17 points, followed closely by teammates Jaylen Wells and Taylor Hendricks, each contributing 16 points. The Grizzlies have been severely impacted by injuries, with standout player Zach Edey sidelined for the remainder of the season and star Ja Morant absent for nearly two months. Memphis also played without starters Ty Jerome and G.G. Jackson due to injuries, resulting in a dismal record of 3-15 over their last 18 games.

Upcoming Matches

Both teams will return to action on Wednesday as Memphis prepares to host the Denver Nuggets, while the Bulls aim to build on their success against the Toronto Raptors at home.
