Chelsea Football Club Jersey Change Announcement
In a recent announcement, Chelsea Football Club has confirmed that Cole Palmer will be inheriting the iconic No. 10 jersey, previously worn by Mykhailo Mudryk. This change comes as Chelsea prepares for the upcoming 2025/26 season, specifically ahead of their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Mykhailo Mudryk’s Recent Challenges
Mudryk, who has been with Chelsea since a high-profile transfer of €100 million (£83 million) in 2023, has not seen any match action since December due to a positive test for the banned substance meldonium. Despite showing promise with his past performances, Mudryk has managed to score only five goals in his tenure at Chelsea, a stark contrast to Palmer’s success, who has netted 37 goals in just two seasons with the club.
Debut and Squad Changes
The club’s official statement announced the jersey change, specifying that Palmer, who previously sported the No. 20, will likely debut his new number on June 16 during a friendly against Los Angeles FC in Atlanta. Adding to the squad’s reconfiguration, Chelsea’s new acquisition Liam Delap will take over the No. 9 shirt.
Uncertain Future for Mudryk
While Mudryk was seen in Poland celebrating Chelsea’s triumph in the recent Conference League final against Real Betis and even donned a winners’ medal, his future on the pitch remains uncertain. Although he has claimed innocence concerning the drugs allegation and expressed a desire to return to the field soon, the club and the Football Association have yet to issue any updates regarding the ongoing investigation into his case.
