Florida State University Triumphs Over Southern Methodist University
In a standout performance on Saturday, Chauncey Wiggins helped Florida State University defeat Southern Methodist University (SMU) with a remarkable 31-point game, marking a personal best for the player. In addition to Wiggins, who shot an impressive 10 of 14 overall and 6 of 8 from three-point range, Robert McCray V contributed significantly with 17 points as the Seminoles put together a strong showing, finishing the game 91-78.

Florida State, which now boasts a record of 17-14 and an Atlantic Coast Conference mark of 10-8, ended their regular season on a high note, winning their last three matches. They established dominance early in the game, closing the first half with a 16-6 scoring run that gave them a substantial 45-27 halftime lead. Wiggins was instrumental during this stretch, contributing 16 points before the break.
The second half saw the Seminoles maintain a comfortable lead, staying ahead by double digits to secure the victory. Lajae Jones added 12 points and Kobe MaGee made 10, contributing to Florida State’s overall shooting accuracy of 52% from the field and 47% from beyond the arc. In contrast, SMU shot 42% and 39% from those areas, respectively.
SMU’s Performance
For the Mustangs (19-12, 8-10), Boopie Miller delivered an impressive performance, scoring a career-high of 32 points on 11-of-20 shooting, including 7-for-11 from three-point range. Samet Yigitoglu also performed well, with 15 points and nine rebounds before fouling out, while Corey Washington chipped in with another 12 points before his own fouling out.
