Charges Dismissed Against Gervonta Davis
In a recent development, the misdemeanor battery charges against Gervonta Davis, the lightweight champion from the WBA, have been officially dismissed. On Tuesday, the Miami-Dade County Clerk’s Office confirmed that the case associated with a domestic dispute involving Davis and his former partner, which took place on Father’s Day, was dropped after the accuser opted not to proceed with the prosecution.

The Miami-Dade State’s Attorney’s Office revealed that the decision came after the alleged victim, guided by her attorney, Lindsey Chase, decided to retract her pursuit of legal action. Further complicating matters, the victim’s mother, who witnessed the incident, did not cooperate with investigators and failed to appear in court despite being subpoenaed.
Davis was apprehended on July 11 in Miami Beach and subsequently taken to the Doral Police Department. He managed to secure his release later that day by posting a $10,000 bond. The police report, which has been reviewed by ESPN, indicates that the altercation stemmed from a heated argument regarding personal issues, including Davis expressing worries about the sexuality of their son. The incident allegedly culminated in physical violence when Davis allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend during the commotion of retrieving their children.
Following the dispute, she sought medical attention at a nearby hospital, and reports hinted that there had been multiple previous altercations between the couple. Initially, a court hearing scheduled for July 29 was postponed to Tuesday morning, where Judge Elisabeth Maria Espinosa Marin formally closed the case.
