Carolina Hurricanes Extend Eric Robinson’s Contract
In a significant move for the franchise, the Carolina Hurricanes have opted to extend the contract of forward Eric Robinson, securing him for the next four years on a deal worth $6.8 million. Announced by general manager Eric Tulsky, the contract will see Robinson’s cap hit set at $1.7 million annually until the conclusion of the 2028-29 NHL season.
Robinson’s Impressive Performance
Robinson, originally from Bellmawr, New Jersey, had an impressive season, recording personal bests with 14 goals, 18 assists, and a total of 32 points after joining the Hurricanes as a free agent. During the playoffs that followed, he contributed three points in 15 matches, aiding the team as they advanced to the Eastern Conference finals before facing a defeat against the Florida Panthers, who went on to win the Stanley Cup.
Management’s Confidence
Tulsky expressed confidence in Robinson’s abilities, stating:
“It’s no surprise to us that Eric had his best professional season last year with Carolina. His size and speed make him an excellent fit for the way we want to play.”
With this re-signing, the Hurricanes continue to build a competitive roster, as they have reached the playoffs for seven straight years under coach Rod Brind’Amour. It’s worth noting that this is Robinson’s second opportunity to participate in the postseason, having previously played in the 2020 playoff bubble with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Throughout his career, which began in 2018, Robinson has accumulated a total of 413 regular-season and playoff games across stints with the Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, and Buffalo Sabres.
