Malcom Subban Joins Dynamo Pardubice

In a notable development for the Czech Extraliga, Canadian goaltender Malcom Subban has officially joined Dynamo Pardubice, as confirmed by the club this past Sunday. At 31 years of age, this marks Subban’s inaugural contract in European hockey. His arrival at Pardubice adds crucial depth to the team’s goaltending roster, complementing veteran Roman Will, who has previous NHL experience with the Colorado Avalanche and completed four seasons in North America.

Director’s Insight on Goaltending Needs

The sports director for Pardubice, Petr Sýkora, highlighted the necessity for enhanced goaltending resources this season, particularly due to the Olympic break which will interject the league’s schedule.

“This season is unique, as it will be interrupted by the Olympic break. We have a demanding schedule before and after it starts, and we want to enter it with a robust and experienced goaltending duo. We’re excited to have reached an agreement with Malcolm, who we believe, alongside Roman Will, will provide a stable and effective partnership in net,”

Sýkora stated.

Subban’s Background and Career

Malcom Subban, who hails from Toronto, is the younger sibling of NHL veteran P.K. Subban. He had a successful junior career with the Belleville Bulls in the OHL and was selected in the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins, going 24th overall.

Roster Updates and Team Performance

On another roster update within the Czech Extraliga, experienced forward Vladimír Sobotka has transitioned from Sparta Prague to Dynamo Pardubice. The 37-year-old, who previously captained Sparta, continues to strengthen Pardubice’s lineup which is already enriched with former NHL talent, including Subban himself, as well as Lukáš Sedlák and Roman Červenka. Currently, the team is competitive in the league, positioned third out of 14 with 36 points accrued over 21 games.

Subban’s NHL Career Highlights

In his NHL career spanning from 2014 to 2024, Subban participated in 87 games across several teams including the Boston Bruins and Buffalo Sabres, recording a 36-34-9 record, a 3.10 goals-against average, a .898 save percentage, and three shutouts. He also had stints in the AHL and represented Canada internationally in the IIHF U-18 World Championship and the World Junior Championships.

Contract Extension for Roman Červenka

Additionally, it’s noteworthy to mention that Czech national team staple Roman Červenka has recently secured a contract extension through 2028, solidifying his pivotal role in both club and national team contexts with his stellar scoring abilities and leadership qualities.
