The Calgary Flames have secured the sixth overall pick in the forthcoming 2026 NHL Entry Draft, following the results of the draft lottery held on Tuesday.

The lottery system, utilizing four balls numbered from 1 to 14, allowed for 1,001 potential combinations when drawing the numbers. After concluding the regular season ranked 29th among 32 teams, the Flames ended with a record of 34 wins, 39 losses, and 9 overtime losses, totaling 77 points.
Remarkably, they outperformed the New York Rangers, who also garnered 77 points but finished below the Flames in the standings, as well as the Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks, who had 72 and 58 points respectively.
Draft Lottery Odds
This season’s performance not only ensures Calgary a top-six draft pick but also provides them with a 9.5% chance of clinching the first overall selection through the draft lottery.
