Key among these changes is the recall of talented young forward Matvei Gridin from the Wranglers, while fellow forward William Strömgren has been sent back to the AHL after a brief tenure in the NHL. Additionally, defenceman Zayne Parekh has been assigned to the Wranglers on a conditioning loan as he recovers from an upper-body injury.
Matvei Gridin’s Impressive Performance
Gridin, recognized for his stellar performance in his rookie season with the Wranglers, has impressed with his offensive skills, accumulating 28 points (10 goals and 18 assists) in just 32 games. Recently honored with a spot on the AHL All-Star Team, the 19-year-old made an immediate impact in the NHL, scoring a goal during his debut against the Edmonton Oilers on the opening night. He has appeared in four games for the Flames, recording one goal to date.
Zayne Parekh’s Conditioning Loan
Zayne Parekh’s move to the Wranglers follows a period on the sidelines due to injury, which he sustained while competing in the World Junior Championship for Canada, where he played a crucial role in earning a bronze medal. He had been listed as day-to-day by the Flames, and his conditioning loan is set to last for a maximum of 14 days.
William Strömgren’s Return to the AHL
After joining the Flames on January 5 and making his NHL debut against the Montreal Canadiens shortly thereafter, Strömgren returns to the Wranglers. During his time with Calgary, the 22-year-old played in three games without contributing points to his totals, leaving him with a minus-1 rating.
