Thrilling Upset Victory
In a thrilling finish, the Colorado Buffaloes secured an 80-79 upset victory against the No. 14 TCU Horned Frogs on Sunday, thanks to Jade Masogayo’s remarkable three-point play in the dying seconds of the game. This stunning outcome not only highlighted Masogayo’s clutch performance but also prevented TCU from claiming a share of the Big 12 Conference lead.
Game Highlights
With just five seconds left on the clock, Donovyn Hunter had given TCU a slim 79-77 edge after hitting a layup. However, Masogayo responded with an impressive sideline inbounds play, driving swiftly along the right side of the lane to net a shot that tied the match. Following a foul on Kennedy Basham during the play, she completed the three-point play by converting the free throw, sealing an extraordinary comeback for Colorado.
Earlier in the game, TCU had established a 76-70 lead following Olivia Miles’ layup with about three minutes remaining. The Buffaloes, however, would not go down easily, scoring five consecutive points to narrow the gap. A free throw from Miles allowed TCU to briefly lead at 77-75 before Masogayo’s two free throws tied it once more with just 24 seconds left.
Player Performances
Masogayo turned in a stellar performance, scoring a career-high 23 points while shooting 7 of 11 from the field and making an impressive 9 of 10 from the free-throw line.
