Buffalo Sabres Triumph Over Los Angeles Kings
In a stellar performance at KeyBank Center, Alex Tuch notched his fourth career hat trick, leading the Buffalo Sabres to a decisive 4-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday evening. This victory marked the Sabres’ 20th win in their last 24 games, showcasing their impressive form this season. Tuch, who has now reached the 20-goal milestone for the fourth consecutive season and for the fifth time in his career, propelled his total to 22 goals for the year with his remarkable outing.
Goaltender’s Record Performance
Goaltender Alex Lyon contributed significantly as well, making an impressive 37 saves, which not only earned him his 10th consecutive victory but also established a new franchise record, surpassing the previous mark set by Gerry Desjardins in December 1976.
Game Highlights
The game began with Tuch opening the scoring on a power play at 7:14 in the first period, after his shot deflected off defenseman Cody Ceci‘s skate and slipped past Kings’ goaltender Darcy Kuemper. Just under nine minutes later, Mattias Samuelsson doubled the Sabres’ lead, putting them up 2-0. Tuch then scored again in the second period at 6:29, tipping Bowen Byram‘s shot into the net, extending Buffalo’s advantage to 3-0.
Despite a brief response from Los Angeles, with Adrian Kempe netting a power play goal only 1:18 later to make it 3-1, Tuch sealed the victory with an empty-net goal in the final minute.
Looking Ahead
The Kings, who had recently enjoyed a three-game winning streak and gained points in six straight games, will look to bounce back in their upcoming matchup against Philadelphia on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Sabres will face off against the Montreal Canadiens in their next challenge.
