Buffalo Sabres Practice Update
On Monday, the Buffalo Sabres conducted their practice at LECOM Harborcenter ahead of their upcoming match against the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have been struggling recently. This game is significant as it concludes the Sabres’ five-game road trip. After facing defeat in two consecutive games, the Sabres have bounced back with three impressive victories on the road.
Injury Updates
Head Coach Lindy Ruff took a moment to address the status of several players nursing injuries, notably sharing concerning news about center Josh Norris and optimistic updates regarding defenseman Jacob Bryson. Norris has been sidelined since January 15 due to a rib injury sustained from a cross-check during a game against Philadelphia. Although Ruff mentioned that Norris is showing daily improvement, he expressed uncertainty about the 26-year-old’s immediate return, suggesting it may not happen soon.
“Josh is better; he was in the training room today and is making progress,” Ruff commented. However, he doubts Norris will be back by week’s end unless he quickly resumes skating, emphasizing the importance of cautious management of Norris’s condition given the time he has missed.
As the Sabres have six games left before the NHL halts activities for the Olympic break, there may be an opportunity for Norris to gradually start ramping up his activities, aiming for a comeback late next month when play resumes.
Further Injury Insights
In further injury updates, Ruff revealed that winger Justin Danforth, who has been out since October, could have a chance to make his return following the Olympic break. He also shared encouraging news concerning Bryson, who suffered an upper-body injury during last Thursday’s victory against Montreal.
“We have received good news on Jacob. It’ll primarily be a matter of managing the pain as he prepares to get back on the ice,” said Ruff. “It will depend on how he feels, but I anticipate him returning to practice soon, likely in a day-to-day capacity.”
As the Sabres continue their season, all eyes will be on these players’ recovery progress, as their contributions are vital to the team’s success moving forward.
