Roster Changes Ahead of Upcoming Battle
In preparation for their upcoming battle against the Calgary Flames on December 8, the Buffalo Sabres have announced significant changes to their roster.
Ostlund Sent to AHL
Forward Noah Ostlund, the Sabres’ first-round draft pick from 2022, is being sent down to the American Hockey League‘s Rochester Americans. This season has seen Ostlund achieve a personal best, taking to the ice for 20 games with the Sabres and tallying three goals, three assists, and a total of six points.
His defensive contributions include 12 blocked shots, alongside a positive plus-1 rating. Notably, Ostlund struggled at the outset of the season, remaining point-less in his first eight games before managing to break through.
Now, Ostlund aims to rekindle his performance in Rochester, where he has demonstrated potential, having recorded two goals and five assists for seven points in just six games this AHL season.
Metsa Joins NHL Roster
On the other hand, defenseman Zach Metsa has been elevated to join the NHL Sabres roster. Metsa is making his way to Buffalo for the next NHL matchup after participating in four games this season without scoring but maintaining a solid plus-3 rating.
His performance with the Rochester Americans has been impressive, where he has accumulated two goals and 11 assists, leading to 13 points over 14 games and earning a plus-5 rating.
Strategic Adjustments
These roster adjustments hint at the Sabres’ strategy to enhance their team’s performance as they approach a crucial stretch of games.
