Bruno Fernandes likely to remain with Manchester United after turning down Al Hilal’s advances

Bruno Fernandes Remains with Manchester United

Recent reports suggest that Bruno Fernandes is likely to remain with Manchester United this summer, despite significant interest from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. ESPN has revealed that Al Hilal has been actively pursuing the Portuguese midfielder, aiming to secure a high-profile signing in anticipation of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

According to sources familiar with the situation, Al Hilal was prepared to offer approximately £100 million ($135 million) for Fernandes, along with a lucrative salary to entice him.

Manchester United’s Optimism

However, insiders at Manchester United are optimistic that the 30-year-old playmaker will opt to stay at Old Trafford, where he is contracted until 2027. Reports from Saudi Arabia indicate that Al Hilal was increasingly confident about securing Fernandes, particularly in light of United’s ongoing financial struggles. Initially, Al Hilal did not intend to present a formal offer until they received a positive indication from Fernandes regarding his willingness to negotiate.

Recently, it has emerged that after discussions with his family, Fernandes has chosen to halt any further talks with the Saudi club.

Coaching Support and Performance Records

United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, has publicly expressed his desire for Fernandes to play a pivotal role in the team’s future plans. Last season, Fernandes was instrumental on the field, registering 19 goals over 57 appearances across all competitions, and he notably logged more minutes than any other outfield player, apart from goalkeeper André Onana.

Remarkably, this is the second consecutive summer in which Fernandes has turned down opportunities from other clubs; last year saw interest from both Saudi Arabia and Bayern Munich before he ultimately signed a new long-term contract with United in August.
