Mixed Feelings on Transfer Decision
Senne Lammens, the newly signed goalkeeper for Manchester United, has drawn mixed feelings from his brother regarding his transfer decision. The Belgian player, who made a €21 million ($27 million) move to Old Trafford on the last day of the summer transfer window, was encouraged to consider alternatives, particularly a potential switch to Galatasaray, where success and silverware seem more attainable.
Concerns About Pressure
Tom Lammens, who plays in Belgium’s lower leagues for Borsbeek, expressed his doubts about Senne’s decision to join United, stating:
“At Galatasaray, there are ample opportunities for winning titles, and Senne could have had an immediate impact in the Champions League.”
He noted his concerns about the intense pressure associated with playing at Manchester United, remarking that numerous players have struggled to fulfill their potential under such scrutiny.
Recent Performance and Future Challenges
Last weekend, Lammens was not selected to start in the Manchester derby, where the team faced a crushing defeat against Manchester City, losing 3-0. United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, preferred Altay Bayindir to take the goalkeeping role.
Despite his reservations, Tom acknowledged that the ultimate decision lay with Senne. He recalled how United’s goalkeeping scout, Tony Coton, had been impressed by Senne’s talents over the past year, which played a significant role in his choice to join the club.
“It would be wonderful if United could reclaim its former status as one of the top clubs, and I hope Senne can play a part in that,”
Tom added.
Current Season Struggles
Currently, Manchester United is enduring a rough patch in their season, having secured only one win out of four matches. They are set to face their challenging opponent, Chelsea, this coming Saturday.
