Brentford Secures Jordan Henderson on Two-Year Contract Following Ajax Departure

Jordan Henderson Joins Brentford

Jordan Henderson has officially joined Brentford, signing a two-year deal after departing Ajax on a free transfer. The 35-year-old veteran has been highlighted by Brentford’s head coach, Keith Andrews, as a crucial addition due to his extensive experience in professional football.

Andrews stated, “Once we discovered Jordan was available, it was a straightforward choice for us. We assessed his recent performances and found that he maintains incredible fitness and motivation to succeed, despite his many accomplishments already.”

Brentford’s Need for Experience

Brentford has recently seen the exit of important veteran players including Christian Nørgaard, Mark Flekken, and Ben Mee. Hence, it was essential for the team to bring in seasoned players to balance their predominantly youthful squad. Andrews reflected on the current talent at the club, noting the promising attributes of players such as Vitaly Janelt, Mathias Jensen, Ethan Pinnock, and Josh Dasilva, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

However, the inclusion of Henderson is poised to enhance the team’s dynamics considerably.

“Jordan is not only a strong leader, having been a pivotal figure in the Premier League’s recent history, but he has also played vital roles in pursuing both league titles and Champions League success at a prestigious club,” Andrews added.

Henderson’s Career Highlights

Henderson’s accolades also extend to his international career, where he has earned 83 caps for England and has been included in the national squad since Thomas Tuchel took over as manager in January. Before his stint at Ajax, Henderson spent time playing in the Saudi Pro League with Al Ettifaq. The Liverpool legend served as the club’s captain for over a decade, leading the team to their maiden Premier League title in 2020, marking a significant chapter in Liverpool’s storied history.
